Sept. 13: 2018 Platte Institute Legislative Summit in Lincoln
Gathering of Senators, Candidates, and Policy Experts Previews Session
WHO & WHAT: The Platte Institute will host its 2018 Legislative Summit, “Working Together,” with panels and presentations on property tax reform, passing a state budget, Nebraska’s new job licensing review, and the relationship between local government and the Legislature. Confirmed speakers include state Sens. Laura Ebke, John Stinner, Mike McDonnell, and Curt Friesen. A complete agenda may be found at: http://gettogether.eventbrite.com.
WHEN & WHERE: Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Lincoln, 1040 P Street, Lincoln, NE 68508. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:45 a.m. The program begins at 8:30 a.m.
WHY: Each year, the Platte Institute hosts the Legislative Summit to bring together elected officials, candidates, issue experts, and other policymakers to discuss topics in the coming legislative session. The theme for this year’s Legislative Summit, “Working Together,” highlights the importance of reaching a filibuster-proof consensus of at least 33 of 49 votes in the Legislature to enact major legislation.

The Platte Institute will also present the 2018 Connie Brown Freedom Award at the beginning of the program. The annual award recognizes Nebraskans who take action to remove barriers to economic opportunity in the state.
