March 2: Virtual news conference on job licensing
Nebraska state Sen. Tom Briese & a special guest
OMAHA, NE – The Platte Institute will host a virtual news conference featuring Nebraska state Sen. Tom Briese, the sponsor of the occupational licensing reform bill Legislative Bill 263, along with a special guest impacted by Nebraska’s job licensing laws.
The news conference will be held on Zoom on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Central Time. Registration is required at this link.
Platte Institute Senior Fellow Laura Ebke will host the news conference and take questions through Zoom’s Q&A feature. The program may be recorded for broadcast. Video and audio recordings will also be included in a release after the conference.
Sen. Tom Briese’s LB263 would provide for universal recognition of occupational licensing and work experience gained in other states and in the U.S. military. The bill has received a hearing in the Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, but has not yet been advanced to the full Legislature.
In recent legislative sessions, similar policies have been adopted in Iowa, Missouri, and South Dakota, with additional proposals currently working their way through legislatures around the country.
