Criminal Justice Reform Expert Visits State Capitol
Marc Levin Will Highlight Key Bills, Including LB299
 

LINCOLN, NE – Nebraska state senators have been invited to a breakfast briefing scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, March 20, hosted by Marc Levin, Vice President of Criminal Justice at the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Right on Crime initiative, the Platte Institute, and the ACLU of Nebraska.

Levin will speak with senators from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Central in State Capitol room 1023 (1445 K Street, Lincoln, NE 68508). He will then be available for questions and interviews following the conclusion of the program.

Levin (pronounced Lev-in) is an attorney and author on legal and public policy issues. He has previously written Platte Institute policy studies on corrections issues in Nebraska, most recently in 2015. A bio and photo are available here.

Right on Crime is a national project started by the Texas Public Policy Foundation to promote a conservative approach to criminal justice reform issues. In his remarks, Levin is expected to make note of bills in the legislative session that align with the organization’s proposals, including Sen. Laura Ebke’s Legislative Bill 299.

In addition to creating a review process for Nebraska’s job licensing laws, LB299 enables Nebraskans with a conviction history to apply to state licensing boards for an opinion on their eligibility to receive a license prior to starting a professional training program.
